I have wanted to shoot at The Bow in Calgary, Alberta ever since its inception in 2012. The 58 story skyscraper is the tallest Canadian building outside of Toronto. The preliminary  blueprint was to make it even taller, however, after the initial environmental survey was completed, it was discovered that the original height of the building would cast a large shadow over the Bow River, thus negatively effecting the local ecosystem. The building has a unique look with the triangular and rounded shapes that comprise the the exterior. The interior is also very cool with sky gardens and stairwells on the outer glass walls. Each level is marked with a corresponding international landmark displaying the comparable height.

Canadian Designer, Amy of Bellafusion, and I met up for a showing of her latest collections which include stunning colourful gemstones in unique settings. I was immediately inspired by this Black Oynx, Sodalite and Pyrite bracelet to shoot at The Bow. The Sodalite beads reminded me of the sky in a photo I took of the building back in 2013. The metallic shimmer of the Pyrite correlates well with the reflecting glass, and the Black Oynx represents the strength of the building which is made up of triangles.

The steel beams and glass panels, form triangles, which adds an industrial look to the downtown core.  Another unique element of the building is a 12 metre tall head composed of wire, which sits at the front of the building. The bent wire art installation, titled Wonderland, is by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa.

The industrial collection bracelet was designed with a mix of gemstones representing strength, determination and creating an interesting design. Combined, these three stones (Black Oynx, Sodalite and Pyrite) achieved that balance. Bellafusion is a Calgary based jewellery brand that sources beautiful, high quality gemstones. Amy's focus is to create unique handmade pieces with positive vibes for everyone. Check out more Bellafusion jewellery at www.bellafusion.ca  and enter promo code STYLECONCEPT for 10% off your purchase!
