Taking a break to enjoy the fresh country air is a necessity for me once in a while.
After weekly industry events, clients, shopping, designing and styling I need to refresh.
What a lot of people do not know about me, is that I grew up between the city and country. Many of my childhood and adolescent memories are from spending time in a (very) small town in Saskatchewan, Canada. I love the freedom of the country and learning about animals and vegetation. Of course having access to organic food is always a plus. Riding horses and playing with dogs and farm cats is a favourite past time.
Having this balance of busy city and smaller community where everyone knows everyone has made me more well rounded today.
I find inspiration and enjoyment in experiencing different lifestyles and surroundings. After travelling to many cities in several countries, Saskatchewan wins for the most beautiful sunsets - they can literally be seen for miles. Fields after fields glowing in the sunlight, followed by a peaceful silence as night falls.
Watching storms roll in from hours away, the massive moon during Harvest, and the Aurora Borealis dancing across the panoramic sky, there is no doubt in why Sask is also known as "Land of the Living Skies".

This look was inspired by the country, with a chic 70's twist.
Lavender is a beautiful colour to wear in S/S, I incorporated lavender touches with the skirt, ring and nail polish.
The stacked heel ankle boots which are a mix between a cowboy boot and a chelsea boot, are easy to walk in and clean after a little country soil ;). Free People's 70's inspired  pleated lavender skirt is a very comfortable alternative to wearing jeans. The lace/cut outs on the bib of the top adds interesting texture without having to add a necklace. This cut out detail is a modern take on the popular lace details of the 1970's. The look is topped off with a stylish wide brimmed hat, to keep the sun off my face.
One of my current favourite pieces is this lavender coloured Quartz Midi Stacked Ring with brass chains draping between the two pieces. The ring looks great with casual or more formal looks and is surprisingly very comfortable. As the rings are made of brass they can be (gently) adjusted for a tighter fit.
