A  contemporary landscaped park sits among the belt line in Calgary, AB.  Barb Scott Park is the home of Chinook Arc, a public art installation by Arizona based designers Joe O'Connell and Blessing Hancock. The park opened in 2014 in honour of late alderman, Barb Scott.
The interactive Chinook Arc sculpture is made from Acrylic and Steel, with colour changing LED lighting and touch sensors. Park visitors have the ability to change the light sequences by moving their arms or playing videos on their phone.
The artists were inspired by the Chinook arch occurrence and the Beltline Streetcar loop that is historic to the area. Chinook Arch is a beautiful phenomenon that occurs around Calgary, bringing warmer temperatures and colourful skies.

While location scouting this past summer, I came across this park and intriguing sculpture. I was immediately drawn to the contemporary, infinite shape and colourful LED design. I wanted to shoot with a complementary outfit - a cool, contemporary look. We shot in the evening to really capture the vibrance of the lighting. The colourful sculpture against surrounding buildings creates a beautiful contrast in the middle of the city.

Being a Stylist can be tempting when you are constantly around beautiful furniture and clothing. I initially pulled this playful jumpsuit for a photo shoot, then decided to purchase it for myself! Even though it has a lot of pattern, the neutral colour palette works great with many pieces. The chiffon snakeskin print works great with solid black, grey or cream jacket and shoes. This piece would also look great with a pop of colour. The exposed zipper down the front ties in nicely with silver accessories, and allows the jumpsuit to be styled several ways. The Miranda Jumpsuit is now on sale at www.walterbaker.com.

As many jumpsuits are often sleeveless and made with a chiffon or jersey fabric (they drape nicely), they can be cool to wear in the fall. Try layering with a wool scarf and a blazer for a warmer, chic fall look. Since the silhouette of a jumpsuit can be a big impact on its own, pair it with minimalist accessories for a more sophisticated look. A simple stiletto or dressy flat will take a jumpsuit from day to dinner.

Next time you are in the downtown Calgary area, check out this contemporary gem located on the corner of 12th Ave and 9th St SW. The park is open daily from 5 am to 11 pm.
