MICRODERMABRASION WITH INFUSED BEAUTY BAR

I have always struggled with blemishes and acne prone skin. At age 12 I started going for treatments and tried various medications to help prevent the scarring of my sensitive skin. Microdermabrasion and glycolic peels have made a great difference with minimal discomfort.

Once I got my hormones and skin issues under control, it became all about maintenance. I have a fairly strict regime, and definitely notice if I skip one of the following; I drink 2-3 litres of water per day, minimum of 8 hours of sleep, using high quality skincare and mineral makeup and going for a facial or Microdermabrasion once per month.  I love how clean and smooth my skin looks and feels after every session of Microdermabrasion. My makeup goes on flawlessly and the tone and texture of my skin is much more balanced.

I partnered with Lizz Pereira-Browny, a Medical Aesthetician and owner of Infused Beauty Bar to share my latest Microdermabrasion Facial and some Q & A's about skincare... Check it out below!

Q II  How did you become a medical aesthetician?
A  – I always had an interest in skincare, I was getting treatments done on my own skin for a while before making a career out of it myself. I attended the International Beauty Institute where I was taught the latest trends and procedures to maintain skin health.

Q II  What do you love most about being an aesthetician?
A  – I love meeting new clients. The career of helping people look and feel beautiful is what keeps me going. Everyone is different and has different concerns, so it’s definitely not the “same old” every time which makes my job that more interesting.

Q II  Which service is your favourite?
A  –    I would say Microneedling treatments! Microneedling has a cool technique and the results are unreal. Microneedling is the one treatment that targets a bunch of concerns. This treatment is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy and it uses tiny needles to create micro channels (tiny holes) in the skin. The process stimulates your skins natural ability to heal itself and in the process, produces collagen and elastin. Microneedling will also diminish the look of unwanted stretch marks and can be performed all over the body. This treatment is good for acne scaring, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, large pores etc.

Q II  You performed a Microdermabrasion treatment on me today, can you please explain what that is for those who are not familiar.
A  –  A Microdermabrasion treatment is a mechanical exfoliation procedure that uses semi ablative technology to polish the skin. This treatment refines the epidermis, helps with uneven skin tones, eliminates dry skin, refines pore size and oil production along with softening and soothing the skin. It's a strong suction system that immediately removes dead skin and debris of the skin. The procedure is highly effective and pain free.

Q II I have always found a noticeable difference in my acne scaring and smaller pores after Microdermabrasion. Who is Microdermabrasion good for and what are some of the other benefits?
A  – Microdermabrasion is good for clients with fine facial lines or wrinkles, age spots, uneven pigmentation, clogged pores, skin texture problems, or have minor scarring. This treatment is beneficial because it polishes off all the dead and dull surface layers of the skin, stimulating an increase in collagen production and rejuvenation leaving the skin feeling smooth and fresh.

Q II   When is the best time / how frequently should you receive Microdermabrasion?
A  –   In some cases clients will get a Microdermabrasion treatment done as frequent as two weeks apart depending on their skins concern. After a series of treatments, it is recommended to keep up with it at least once a month. Concern or no concern, if people are just trying to maintain their skins health, then getting a treatment done monthly just for their personal maintenance regimen is ideal as well. A great exfoliation is always necessary.

Q II What are the differences in results from Chemical Peel vs. Microdermabrasion?
A  – A Chemical Peel is a chemical exfoliation and a Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation. There are different types of peeling solutions to treat different skin concerns which bring you to different results. Peels penetrate deeper into the skin and allows your skin to shed overtime. A Microdermabrasion gently removes dead skin cells off the outermost layer of your skin and leaves you with a smooth and polished feel.

Q II What are some of your tips for maintenance in-between treatments?
A  – A good homecare regimen is a must. Keep on top of moisturizing, use a gentle cleanser and most importantly apply SPF when being exposed to sun.

Q II What are your top 3 skincare must haves?
A  – As of right now my top 3 skincare must haves are the Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment Mask, Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin eye cream, and the Wtich Hazel Aloe Vera Formula infused with rose petals (an alcohol-free toner).

Q II  There are so many beauty and skincare trends these days [i.e - coconut oil everything, customizable skincare, charcoal masks etc.], in your opinion, what is the next skincare fad we are going to see?
A  –  I feel like we are going to see more of serums and oils. Whether you have dry flaky skin, oily skin, sensitive skin or breakout prone skin now a day there is an oil or serum for every concern that will work its magic. Having hydrated skin is important for everybody and with some new and improved oils and serums everyone will get the proper hydration for their skin.
