DESIGN - IMAGE - ACCESSORY

Image
You guys know I'm all about incorporating your own style into every aspect of your life... so why not have tech accessories that go with your personal style ? I have been designing custom cases with CaseApp for a couple of years and am super happy with the quality of the print and the case itself.  I recently visited the Iris Van Herpen and Philip Beesley exhibit at The ROM in Toronto, Canada and was inspired by the two visionaries who push boundaries in design. The pieces from IVH's  Aeriform collection [showcase during Paris Couture Week] wer e made of innovative materials creating intricate, avant gard art.   One of my highlights was the interactive installation. The construction, materials and overall concept was quite interesting. I spent a good hour taking in all of the details. I was really drawn to the textures and how the architecture in The ROM complimented the art.  After going through my favourite images from the event, I started playing ar

Day To Dinner Vegas Looks

Image
I'm headed to Las Vegas, Nevada next week for one of my besties 30th birthday celebrations.  I visit Vegas annually, however, I have never experienced the city with just the girls... I'm guessing it will be a little different from my previous experiences ;). I can't wait to share my list of places to explore with you. In the meantime, I put together a couple of looks that are perfect to rock from Day to Dinner in Las Vegas.  When I found this GirlMerry.com black mesh dress I instantly needed it in my life.  As you guys know, I love sheer fabrics and interesting textures and this piece incorporates both details. I have several sheer LBD's, but what sets this one apart is the sleeve length and black beading. There are small sphereical beads in various sizes sewn onto the front that acts as jewelry, so you don't even have to accessorize.  We are going to be seeing a lot of similar of pearl shaped beading on clothing, denim and accessories this se

MICRODERMABRASION WITH INFUSED BEAUTY BAR

Image
I have always struggled with blemishes and acne prone skin. At age 12 I started going for treatments and tried various medications to help prevent the scarring of my sensitive skin. Microdermabrasion and glycolic peels have made a great difference with minimal discomfort. Once I got my hormones and skin issues under control, it became all about maintenance. I have a fairly strict regime, and definitely notice if I skip one of the following; I drink 2-3 litres of water per day, minimum of 8 hours of sleep, using high quality skincare and mineral makeup and going for a facial or Microdermabrasion once per month.  I love how clean and smooth my skin looks and feels after every session of Microdermabrasion. My makeup goes on flawlessly and the tone and texture of my skin is much more balanced.  I partnered with Lizz Pereira-Browny, a Medical Aesthetician and owner of   Infused Beauty Bar to share my latest Microdermabrasion Facial and some Q & A's about skincare... Chec

Festival Styling Tips with Ardene

Image
Festival season is finally here! Having cool looks that are both comfortable and stylish are an important part of enjoying the experience. Check out some of my no-fail basics for any S/S festival you attend:  1] The Bootie - A western style boot is a key footwear style regardless of the genre of music. These boots are a 2-in-1 style and have a comfort memory foam to keep your feet dancing all day long! The removable harness changes the style from western chic to a classic Chelsea style. [Now 50% off!] 2] The   Shortall  -    Overalls are one of the hottest trends this season. They are so easy to dress up or down and automatically give off a festival vibe.  Shortall's [shorts instead of pants] are a great option for warm summer days to give your legs a little sun and cool breeze.  This black stretch denim is easy to dress up or down and goes with just about any top. With all of the styling options, you could definitely get away with wearing these multiple days.  I

SPRING BASICS WITH WEARALL

Image
As much as I love classic styles, I tend to gravitate towards pieces that have unique twist. I have put together a few looks incorporating some of my favourite S/S pieces from the cool U.K. based online retailer - WearAll. Of course I styled the black and white versions of these pieces, however, WearAll typically has multiple colour ways.  Let's get right into it...  1] The Bomber Jacket - As many of you know, this is one of my fave outerwear styles. This jacket  is fabulous for all seasons and goes with so many different styles. It serves as a windbreaker and the unstructured shape is great layering piece that can be worn wrapped around the waist or around your shoulders if it gets too warm to wear all day. I love this particular bomber for a few reasons; the material is an interesting texture, the lining is a nice quilted design with a good amount of fill for a nice shape and warmth. The gold hardware creates a nice contrast against the low lustre fabric.  Find your fave co

Spring Style w/ Ardene

It may not feel like Spring quite yet, but it’s time to dress the part. Incorporating florals, stripes and flowing fabrics into our wardrobe will get us in the mood for Spring/Summer. This season is all about bold prints, texture and colour. With that being said,  when choosing which pieces to rock this SS, it is important to remember who you are, what you’re most comfortable in and bringing these trends into YOUR own style. We often lose ourselves with what is trending or how other people are putting themselves together. It’s time to step back and remember what YOU love, what looks best on YOUR figure, with YOUR skin tone etc. not what works on the next person. Style is about you, and that’s what is so cool about it - the uniqueness of how you put things together and confidence one exudes while feeling great is something no one else has. As many of you know, I typically don’t dress or do my hair/makeup or home decor based off of what is “trending”, but rather what mak

IDS18 HIGHLIGHTS + SPRING TRENDS

IDS   [Interior Design Show] Toronto never disappoints. In it's 20th year the show was a full schedule of successful industry speakers and vendor exhibits from both new and familiar companies.  A few of the big trends showcased included; customizable tiles, mixing prints and one of my personal favourites - graffiti art. The hand knotted graffiti rugs by Finlay & Kath Inc. [4th photo] would give any space a very cool vibe.  We are seeing 3D printing becoming more and more popular in the design world. The pendants [6th photo] are by a new Vancouver based company that creates 3D printed light fixtures - they were all absolutely stunning!  At the back of the conference centre there was a market area featuring creative fashion and home products. I found some really interesting pieces here, one of my faves being these ceramic/porcerlain pieces. As per usual, IDS was a great event & I'm looking forward to the Fall edition out West!  Check out my Spring/Summer

EXPLORING GENOVA W/ MOUNTAIN MESSENGER CO.

Image
One of my favourite past times of travelling around Europe is taking the train through the countryside. The architecture and lush vegetation is so refreshing - especially in the coastal regions. On our most recent trip, we road the train for a couple of hours up the Italian coast from Milan to Genova.  Genova [Genoa] is a colourful gem in Italy's Liguria region. The northwestern city is best known for it's maritime trade [it's the largest port city in Italy, and the birth place of Christopher Columbus.  It has a similar vibe to Cinque Terre, which makes sense as it is located only an hour and a half up the coastline.  The initial feel was a little different than what I had anticipated. The city is much larger and is very laid back.   We stayed for a few days exploring the twisting maze of a city that we basically had all to ourselves - perks of travelling in low season! As Genova is a wide spread city, we wen

Cute & Comfy in Rose + Vine by Ardene

Image
Let’s face it, undergarments are one of the most important parts of an outfit. Cute designs with a great fit are essential, but comfort trumps all. The new Rose + Vine collection from Ardene is cozy, cute and comfortable. I love the soft fabrics mixed in with lace designs to add a little style to your lingerie. I mixed and matched the Lace Push Up Bustier with these Softie Cheekies, perfect for casual lounging and looking fab under just about anything.  The bustier offers great support and the mesh back also works great layered under a semi-sheer knit.  Check out the R+V collection here . I have teamed up with Ardene to give you guys 15% off sitewide with code: elena15
