Birthday Spa Day With Mix Beauty Lab in Toronto

With my bday trip canceled due to Covid19, I wanted a little TLC here in Toronto. I decided to have some pampering at Mix Beauty Lab on my birthday, which also happened to be the last day before social distancing was in full effect in Canada. ⁣⁣⁣
After reading great things about Mix Beauty Lab, I knew it was the perfect place to go. They are a spa that specializes in facials, brows, hair removal, sunless tans, makeup, lashes, and nails - I could spend all day! ⁣ ⁣⁣

The first thing I had done was a brow session. I’d been growing my brows out with Briogeo 100% Caster Oil, and wanted to get them groomed before trying tinting, etc.
I had Eyebrow Threading for the first time and was amazed by how quick and painless it was. I have super sensitive skin, so I have avoided waxing and threading, but it definitely worked well with a little redness that quickly disappeared. I also got a little trim and tried their Mix Brow Fix Gel which is a tinted formula that is water-resistant and has tiny fibers to bulk brows for extra help.

Next, their mixologist did some blending to match my skin tone and created a custom liquid foundation for me [literally poured + bottled right in front of me] as well as a little makeover with some of their best selling products.
The Mix Lip Plumper was an instant favorite as it quickly added volume and moisture while giving my lips a soft pink glow.

Most importantly, I had a facial.
My skin has been FREAKING out lately. I think it’s a combination of environment and the hormonal balancing that I’m doing with Traditional Chinese Medicine. I also recently tried a new product line that was too heavy for my skin. Needless to say, it's been a mess and I needed to get the breakouts under control.
After an assessment of my skin, we decided on the 75 minute Mix Deluxe Facial.
This intensive treatment is designed to rapidly and safely resurface the skin reducing fine lines, smoothing, softening and encouraging cellular renewal. A two-step physical and chemical exfoliation using dermaplanning and IS Clinical's Fire & Ice treatment [see the blue cooling globes in the video on my Instagram here], combined with a full facial and oxygen to finish.
I've had glycolic facials for over 10 years, but I had never experienced it in combination with dermaplanning. I think it was maybe a little too much for my sensitive skin to do both at the same time, but it definitely helped get a deeper clean and resurface my skin for a smoother complexion.

My overall experience was amazing and everyone was very friendly and professional, which is super important when dealing with skin issues that are both personal and emotional for many people.
